Chippewa County UW-Extension will be offering a 2-part Parents Forever class at the Cornell Food Pantry Community Room on May 15 and May 22 from 6-8pm. This class is for divorcing or separating parents who are mandated to complete co-parenting classes before their divorce can be finalized.
Parents Forever, a program for families in divorce transition, was designed by the University of Minnesota to aid parents in better ways to support their children during and after a divorce or separation. Strategies for communicating, handling specific situations with children, and creating a Parenting Plan are discussed.
Divorcing couples are allowed to attend together if there are no restraining orders or high-conflict issues in place. Parents are required to attend both consecutive weeks of the class for completion. Upon completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate, and a letter will be given to the Clerk of Courts in Chippewa County. If the divorce occurs in another county, a copy will be mailed to that county where the divorce will be finalized.
This course is $30.00 per person and requires prepayment to the Chippewa County UW-Extension Office and mailed to 711 N. Bridge Street, Room 13, Chippewa Falls, WI 54729. To register, or if you have any questions, please contact Family Living Educator Jeanne Walsh at 715-726-7953.
