Private Pesticide Applicator Training

The sessions are designed for those whose private pesticide applicator licenses are due to expire this year or for those who plan to certify for a license for the first time. Training and certification is required for producers planning to use restricted use pesticides who do their own pesticide application. The program covers pesticide laws, pesticide labels, safety, handling, integrated pest management, container disposal, equipment calibration, and groundwater protection.

Applicants can register as a private applicator in one of three categories: general farming, greenhouse and nursery, or fruit crops. Sub-category application exams will also be available for agricultural fumigation, chemigation, and aerial application. Training materials for all categories are available through the county UW-Extension Offices.

All instructor led sessions are complete for this season.  Those needing to complete the exam to recertify can do so by way of self-study.  Participants must pre-register and purchase training materials. Cost of the materials is $40.00.  Participants will study the materials and then will coordinate with the UW-Extension Office personnel to schedule a 2-hour exam time.  To register, contact the Chippewa County UW-Extension Office, Courthouse, Rm. 13, 711 N. Bridge Street, Chippewa Falls; telephone (715) 726-7950.
